The Importance of CHN’s Annual Wine Gala

The Children’s Heart Network’s 18th Annual Wine Gala will be held on Friday, April 24, at the beautiful Terminal City Club in downtown Vancouver.

Last year over 200 people enjoyed this fabulous evening with hors d’œuvres, bubbly, and a three-course dinner with wine pairings. The firecracker-of-an-auctioneer Fred Lee, known from the CBC and The Province, will entertain you, and we will have some amazing prizes for both our silent and live auctions.

At the gala, the CHN board will provide you with information on our charity and what we do for our heart warriors and their families throughout the year. Our heart kid Carly and her dad, Charles Vasquez, will tell their inspiring story of her complex health and how they have overcome so many struggles and found support within the CHN community.

The proceeds from this fundraiser go to two important programs: sending BC kids to summer camp with medical staff on site, as these kids can’t go to regular camp, and holding our monthly youth group meetings, Hearts of Gold.

Many children with congenital heart disease face daily challenges: exercise limitations, the need for multiple medications or treatments, and fewer opportunities to socialize with their peers. Unfortunately, we often see children with heart conditions become depressed or develop anxiety as a result.

But CHN’s heart camps provide opportunities for these children to participate in a wide range of physical and social activities and to connect with other kids who face similar medical challenges. We have learned that our camps and monthly Hearts of Gold youth meetings build confidence, friendships, and experiences that help them move forward in life. Every year we hear about how incredibly empowering these camps and get-togethers are for all participants.

We hope to see you on this spectacular evening! To order tickets, visit chnevents.org. We can guarantee it’ll be worthwhile.
