The Children’s Heart Network hosts a collaborative heart disease conference for families and professionals every second year. The aim of this conference is to provide education about growing up with heart disease and to continue to foster effective relationships between children, youth, their families and health care providers.
The conference includes sessions on the latest research and developments in:
• Pediatric cardiac care
• Physical activity and participation in sports
• Neurodevelopmental outcomes for children with congenital heart disease
• Navigating the health care and school systems
CHILDREN’S PROGRAM AND PROFESSIONAL CHILD CARE
The conference offers a great program of activities for heart kids and siblings (ages 6 months to 12 years). The Children’s Program is planned and run by experienced and licensed early childhood educators.
HEARTS OF GOLD YOUTH CONFERENCE PROGRAM
The conference offers a stream specifically for youth. The Hearts of Gold program caters to the needs and interests of youth ages 13 to 19, and provides a forum for expression of their ideas and issues related to living with heart disease. Social, relevant, and fun, the youth will enjoy a range of opportunities at the conference and in the city.
