The Children’s Heart Network offers many opportunities for children of all ages and their families to get together in a fun and supportive environment. Every year we hold annual Christmas parties in the Lower Mainland and Victoria, a day at Cultus Lake Waterpark in August, an Easter egg hunt in the spring, a visit to a pumpkin patch in October, and a magical night at the Vancouver Aquarium in June. We also have an annual heart walk in February and informal get-togethers throughout the year.
Long Weekend Family Fishing Camp at Critter Cove
Every year, several heart families are invited to spend a very special long weekend at Critter Cove, a secluded fishing lodge in beautiful Nootka Sound on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Families enjoy spectacular scenery, world-class fishing, and three relaxing days with delicious meals (including a First Nations salmon barbeque on the beach). Most importantly, this weekend provides families with a rare opportunity to connect with other families who know what it’s like to live with heart disease. The healing effects and strong bonds and that are made during this weekend are immeasurable. Families who have gone have called it an unforgettable experience, and a trip of a lifetime.
This weekend is possible thanks to the generous support of the Forbes family at Critter Cove.
